At last!!

Our doors will carefully open again
from the 1st of June!

After 77 days without you, our guests!

However, there are considerable restrictions as a precaution for the benefit of all our health.

For example, we are allowed to receive a maximum of 30 people at the same time inside our café. That’s why we can only work with ‘shifts’, and only on reservation (maximum 4 persons).

Reservations are possible for one of the slots for one hour, starting at 8.30 a.m..

(for an elaborate lunch or hot meal slots of 1.5 hours are available from 12.00 a.m.-20.00 p.m., and from 20.30  p.m. onwards all reservations are without end time.)

We have a strict shift policy, and cannot make allowances for late comers or extended stays.

We accept cards only, so no cash!

On nice days our terrace is open, where we can receive more guests. Of course with the by now well known mutual distance of one and a half meter. Reservations can also be made for this (maximum 4 persons) , but with the condition that these reservations will be cancelled in case of bad weather.

Preferably, reservations can be made via the reservation button here on our website, or by phone on 020-6255771
(until 1st of June you can contact us on
weekdays from 12.00-16.00).
Not via email.

The procedures are quite drastically different from before. Nevertheless, we hope for your understanding for this situation, in which public health and hospitality must be in line with each other.

See you on Monday, June 1st, noon, or one of the days after that.

Team Cafe de Jaren

about café de jaren

Café de Jaren, open since 1990, is a bright and spacious café located in the centre of Amsterdam, between Muntplein and the Amsterdam Music Theatre on Waterlooplein. Inside, high-ceilinged spaces make an attractive setting for the bar and restaurant. And at the back, the first-floor balcony and sunny canal-side terrace on the Kloveniersburgwal offer views across the River Amstel. With its own jetty, the café can also be visited by boat.

Café de Jaren owes its popularity to the quality of the food and drink it serves, the reading table, the canal-side terrace and balcony, the variety of tucked-away places to sit, and the light and spacious atmosphere. And last but not least, the hospitality. The two floors of the café are joined by an atrium.

Our first-floor balcony is non smoking. reservations on the balcony is possible.

Welcome at De Jaren.
